The front two pieces of wood were in bad shape and the back where the speaker was housed was all there but the part sitting on the ground was not restorable. The plastics were also not usable. Over the next two years we looked for better wood parts to restore this speaker.
Surprizingly we found a collector that had only the original back wooden case for a 4008 speaker. _______ was making plastics for the 4008. So we carefully buffed and polished the inner aluminum hub and mirror assembly.
He rechromed the metal decorative parts. I wired the lights and we hung it in his ceiling of his new home. By the way you can tell an original 4008 from a repro 4008 by the light holes behind the small rectangle colored transparent plastics in the mirrored covered metal plate in the center of the speaker with the motor turning hub.The repro speakers all have circular punched holes behind the colored transparent plastic and the original 4008 has large rectangular holes punched behind them as this speaker does. Many of our buyers have had great experiences finding a shipper on uShip.
